I have been collecting rare whiskies for more than 5 years myself now and I must say it never gets dull. There are so many interesting, investable whiskies out there and it is funny how the game works. When you’ve hunted down one bottle on your wish list, another amazing bottle pops up! It truly is a never-ending hunting adventure!
In the past, I used to keep track of my collection in an Excel sheet, and I was quite satisfied with my sheet. Until someone asked me what the market value is of my collection today… Or what the return of investment was of a bottle I sold… At that moment, I knew my sheet could be improved in so many ways. Together with Roger and Trevin, we decided to build a platform that helps spirits collectors and investors value their collections and give more insight in their performance. I strongly believe spirits, and in particular whisky, can be considered as a profitable investment asset class.
At Spirits Invest, I am mainly responsible for data validation, and I believe this role fits me like a glove. Intrigued by trends in data and data validation, I started my career in the pharmaceutical industry as a validation consultant. In this strongly regulated industry, I learned how important processing and validating data is. Data integrity is key when it comes to drug and patient safety.
Spirits data can not only improve decision-making in spirits investing, but also reassuring you are on the right track. It feels good to see the number of bottles in my whisky collection and the collection value go up on Spirits Invest.
