The year-to-date returns in the previous table already showed us the bad news we are going to broadcast for October 2023. Solely three indexes are green this year so far. The leader is the Spirits Invest Karuizawa Noh Series Whisky Index with a year-to-date return of 2.3%. At the other end of the spectrum, it appears that our secret agent 007 cannot save his own index unlike the famous James Bond movies. The Spirits Invest Macallan James Bond 60^th Anniversary Decade Series Whisky Index has the worst year-to-date performance of -47.8% so far this year.

The average return for October 2023 was -2.7% for the 41 Spirits Invest Indexes. For comparison, in September 2023 the average return was -0.1%. Only nine of the 41 Spirits Invest indexes were green, whereas 31 indexes fell compared to the end of September 2023. One index was unchanged last month.
